How long could you go with Betamax. The fact is Joe public couldnt care less about technically better quality unless its huge for example: VHS to DVD. If they cant get something like Hitch or 50 First Dates encoded without noticeable compression artefacts, I shudder to think what theyll do with a 140 minute-plus film comprised mainly of grainy, fast, hand-held photography. Which in Joe Publicspeak translates as sixteen timeshifted episodes of Coronation Street on an E240 VHS tape versus just seven on an L810 Beta. Not much contest. Also, Beta tapes had weird numbering systems E180 and E240 were easy to understand, but L750 translated to 3-and-a-quarter hours. Come again?
